Are you looking to work for a company that provides an innovative work environment, and your voice is heard? We have a need for a Field Services Technician that has a strong mechanical background and that has the ability to travel up to 100% of the time.
Role is based in Plymouth Mi and requires the person to be onsite while not traveling for the customer. This role allows for overtime, a car allowance and per diem while traveling.
Summary Of Functions
  • To assist customers with on-site troubleshooting and repair of existing equipment or the assembly and startup of new presses, as well as customer training.
  • Establish a solid relationship with customers and provide a point of contact for technical support within the company.
  • Applies mechanical aptitude to test, troubleshoot and repair systems and equipment.
  • Read prints, drawings and schematics and perform basic calculations.
  • Supports service sales by identifying and presenting various products, parts, and services as defined by group objectives.
  • Maintains and develops strong customer relationships to ensure positive customer service satisfaction measurements.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Repair or assemble products and equipment and various assemblies of parts of various types and sizes. Technicians will be required to perform mechanical, assembly, hydraulic and pneumatic assembly and test functions.
  • Maintain familiarity with general machine assembly, including fluid technology, via training at SIC or at other operations.
  • To be able to assemble via drawings, specifications, bill of materials and through written and verbal instruction.
  • Develop knowledge of Service Manual formats.
  • Assist affiliates in determining required repair or spare parts at customers.
  • Perform and document Press Preventative Maintenance Inspections and help develop PM protocols as required.
  • Submit field reports and/or documents as required by the Field Operations Manager in a timely manner.
  • Report any perceived unsafe operating condition on Presses in operation.
  • Act responsibly and strive to cooperate with others to solve common tasks in the field.
  • May perform basic electrical work within the normal scope of repairs.
  • Advise customers and representatives of upgrade opportunities within the area in addition to practical advice gained from field experience.
  • Recommends service and preventative maintenance programs for customers of the group.
  • Recommends and supports quotes development for technical service and parts within SIC policies and practices.
  • Produce comprehensive and accurate service reports of activities and repairs to customer's equipment.
  • Be available for service support on a 24-hour basis including holidays and weekends.
  • Provide receipts and details of costs to allow for accurate invoicing of our customers.
  • Insure that in all aspects of an assignment that the corporate commitment to quality, cost control, safety and customer service is maintained.
  • Must maintain a valid passport and driver's license including a satisfactory driving record.
  • Participate in training for specific Presses and equipment and OSHA Federal and State Safety Requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Journeyman certification preferred
  • At least 2-5 year of related experience required.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic required
  • (Heavy) Machine building experience required.
  • Preventative maintenance and machine troubleshoot experience.
  • Able to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Able to facilitate discussions and give presentations with highly technical content. Presents clearly and informatively.
  • Valid Passport, Driver's License
  • Willingness to travel in US, Canada, and Mexico. This position is considered 100% travel.

  • Fluent in English with advanced reading and writing skills.
  • German Language skills or Portuguese Language skills would be a plus.
  • Visa holders/English as Second Language (ESL) individuals must take TOEFL exam and score above passing grade.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
  • This position reports to the Field Service Manager. There are no supervisory responsibilities assigned to this position. Works closely with Engineering, and Inside Sales.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
