Summary:
Manages, mentors and coordinates activities for an Engineering Team. Works independently and with his/her team in the design, development and initial manufacturing planning of equipment required to meet customer's needs or market demands. Develops engineering documentation, design, calculations, for drawings, schematic drawings, material specification, test documentation or other required data. Assists or conducts problem studies leading to recommendations for upgrading/improving existing equipment in field or lab environment. Under general supervision, perform product testing functions in a test lab facility and/or field location. Completes projects as assigned. Willingness to work in a small group and take ownership on multiple projects as a project lead.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
• This incumbent is considered a leading authority in the engineering field, both within the organization, and outside the organization by other recognized experts in the field.
• This individual is the final point of consultation in the most complex of engineering problems.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering standards including codes and regulations affecting design development
  • Must be able to understand all phases of field operations and equipment with particular attention to department or work group’s field of expertise.
  • Advanced expertise with Microsoft Office Suite of products, Word, Excel.
  • Solid Works expert knowledge and use is (required)
  • Solidworks Simulation, static, dynamic, nonlinear, vibration, shock, (required)
  • Stress Analysis (hand calculations), (required)
  • GD&T expert, (required)
  • Manufacturing Planning of routers, item card and BOM creation within an ERP system (required) (Business Central Preferred)
Education
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering Required, Master Degree is preferred. Focus on stress analysis and mechanism design
Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in design, product development, design for manufacturing, support of a manufacturing facility (onsite)
  • 10+ years, Design of cranes, winches, heave compensators (preferred)
  • 5+ years, Mil Specs. experience (preferred)
  • 5+ years, Welding procedure development and qualification experience, (steel, aluminum, nickel, stainless alloys, AWS, NAVSEA) (preferred) CWI is a plus
  • Previous people management position desired
  • 5+ years, DNV, ABS standards and certifications experience, (required)
  • 10+ years, Heavy equipment design (required)
  • Persons with Design-house-only experience is not desired, must have manufacturing facility engineering design / support experience 10+ years
  • 5+ years work / production order creation, router creation, item card and BOM creation within an ERP system (Business Central Preferred)
