Being a Head of Engineering at a company smaller than 10 people is special. You’ll have a ton of autonomy and be expected to own parts of the product end-to-end from problem formulation to solution to sales. You’ll wear many hats and work with a team of talented engineers building cutting edge AI technology. You’ll not only be building a product but a company from the ground up, helping shape it to an exciting and fun place to work.
We’re in the process of deploying our product to a few early customers who are excited to try it out. There’s not much out there about us yet, but we are well funded by investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Boldstart Capital.
Our product uses cutting-edge machine learning to understand patterns in observability data and uses that information to help companies deliver more reliable software to their customers. As the first Head of Engineering, you’ll manage the engineering team, inspire and motivate our exceptional ICs, plan and execute on our product, and help make some of the foundational technical decisions for our product.
The role
As an essential part of our team, you will:
- Grow, mentor, inspire and nurture a talented engineering team.
- Since the team is small, you'll be expected to be deeply involved in architectural discussions and code reviews, and spend at least 50% of your time coding until management becomes a full-time role.
- Champion technical excellence, ensuring our products shine with exceptional design, robustness, and quality.
- Lead innovative projects from inception to completion, driving creativity and excellence.
- Forge strong partnerships with product management to bring our product roadmap to life.
- Help drive technical and product decisions so we can deliver on an exceptional user experience for our customers.
Responsibilities/Desired skills
- Proven ability to guide and inspire an engineering team.
- Experience in building and scaling real-time data processing applications in a SaaS model.
- Demonstrated skill in hiring, training, and mentoring a diverse team of high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and excellence in software development and maintenance.
- BS in CS/EE or equivalent with 10+ years of industry experience, including 4+ years in a technical leadership role.
- Ideally, experience in early stage startups and deep experience in Java and stream processing systems, especially Apache Flink.

Salary Range: $190,000 - $230,000 USD
