The Engineering Technician assists with the development | | of plans and maps, participates in field inspections, implements | | various technical programs, and provides general support to every | | division of the Engineering Department. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Examples of Duties: | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Coordinates with the Towns GIS Analyst to maintain and update | | maps. | | - Receives and reviews as-built GIS data and coordinates with GIS | | Analyst to include in Towns database. | | - Receives and investigates requests for street lighting. | | - Updates Engineering Department standard details, manual, and | | specifications as needed. | | - Creates work orders for traffic signage and assists with | | associated ordinance preparation. | | - Creates graphics and/or plans related to capital projects. | | - Assists with inspections of stormwater control measures and | | administration of annual inspection and maintenance certification | | program. | | - Performs or assists with inspections and research for illicit | | discharges and drainage complaints. | | - Assists with inspections of private development and capital | | projects as needed. | | - Performs inspections to verify completion of infrastructure | | construction for bond approval or release. | | - Coordinates with third party utility companies to facilitate | | capital project construction. | | - Assists with preparation of construction cost estimates and bid | | documents. | | - Receives and reviews driveway permit applications and | | right-of-way encroachment applications. | | - Performs intake and completeness check of development plans | | submitted via the Towns online development portal. | | - Assists with the Towns traffic calming program, including | | collecting traffic data in the field, analyzing data, and | | summarizing results. | | - Programs and monitors flashing school zone lights. | | - Assists with administration of on-call contracts for services | | such as design, materials testing, and survey. | | - Processes complaints and requests for information; responds to | | requests from the public. | | - Performs related tasks as required. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Minimum Qualifications: | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Applicants must havean Associate's degree (or higher) in Engineering | | Technology or a related field and at least two years of engineering | | technician or related ex erience. | | | | Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. | | | | Basic knowledge of drafting and/or rendering software and ArcGIS is | | required. | | | | Knowledge of plan review and permitting software and Bluebeam Revu is | | a plus. | | | | Preference will given to applicants with public sector work | | experience. | | | | Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and have a good | | driving history. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Additional Information: | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The salary range shown is the hiring range.
