Job Requirements / Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Set up, operate and maintain the Omag stone mills.
  • Use cranes to load and unload work from the machine.
  • Load programs from the network.
  • Prepare mill bed with necessary brackets and risers.
  • Level and align stone to axis on the mill bed.
  • Secure stone using clamps, wedges and spacers so it does not move and the mill does not contact it during operation.
  • Review program sheet with the stone and production ticket to verify the correct stone and tools are loaded.
  • Manually jog mill using touch-off block and a dial indicator to set origin according to programmer's specifications.
  • Assemble mill tools as needed for the program and disassemble tools when the job is complete.
  • Monitor machine operation.
  • Verify quality of work by applying patterns and measuring stone.
  • Use large hammers and pry bars frequently to position stone on mill bed.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Assist crane operator with loading and unloading stones on the mill.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
  • Operate forklift to move granite products and materials as necessary.
  • Perform necessary 5S and Total Productive Maintenance duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, such as the General Education Development (GED)
  • Previous CNC machine tool operation and experience
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must obtain forklift certification (training and certification provided by Coldspring for all employees who may be required to operate a forklift).
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
  • Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • General math skills.
  • Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
  • Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.

Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Scott Labat of Distinctive Staffing Solutions has been in the staffing business most of his career. He started with staffing when he was opening restaurants across the country. Scott enjoyed the hiring process and staffing the locations. He left that business to continue his passion for staffing and went to work for an IT recruiting firm placing full-time resources, working with both clients and candidates. In his career he has worked with full-time staffing firms, project based consulting firms and national contingent staffing companies.
We have all worked with consulting/staffing firms that have a process in place and will do what ever it takes to make their clients accept these processes. DSS understands that client success is wrapped around understanding their processes and procedures and working together to find a solution to their staffing/project needs.
DSS is not in the business of making our clients change their internal processes to fit our needs.
We listen to our consultants and candidates to understand what they are looking for in their career. It is important that we understand what is ideal for them and when we are working on the opportunity we can present that to them.
We strive to make every placement a success for our resources as well as the clients.
We want to make sure that our internal staff is also happy, without our internal team we have nothing. We are not an organization that is metrics driven, we have all worked with metrics driven organizations. You need to make a certain amount of calls/submittals/meetings each day/week/month. This is great if you are a machine but we all know that we are not. What makes DSS successful is the personalization that we strive for. We strive for one thing, making great placements with our trusted clients. You can't do that if you are forcing metrics, this causes actions that are not in the best interest of the candidate or our clients, this is not the targeted production that DSS wants.
We want to make sure that every action that is taken in our organization is focused on a mututally successful placement, not meeting a quota.
