Job Description SummaryThe Power Electronics Component Lead Engineer will report to the Hybrid Electric Electrical Systems Manager within the GE Aerospace Future of Flight Organization. The engineer will be responsible for power electronic component and system definition as well as validation and verification testing and compliance. This role is essential for the safe execution of GE Aerospace’s suite of hybrid electric ground and flight technology demonstrator vehicles. These demonstrator vehicles serve as foundational platforms for maturing hybrid electric and other technologies central to the realization of the aviation industry’s sustainability goals in the first half of the 21st century.Successful GE component engineers possess a diversity of educational backgrounds including, but not limited to: electrical, mechanical, systems, and controls engineering.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities:As the Power Electronics Component Lead Engineer, you will:Define power electronic component requirements and document analytical and empirical compliance against those requirementsModel circuits and components to a level consistent with validation and projection necessitiesApply GE best practices and standards to designing power electronic components and systemsCapture lessons learned and best practices to aid in continuous improvement of component design, validation, and verification activitiesParticipate in all facets of the systems engineering process – system architecture, systems engineering, and project managementPresent results to internal (GE) and external (customer, agency, government, …) customersCollaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environmentAdditionally, you will be responsible to continually mature your personal and professional development through training opportunities, mentorship, and formal career path definition.Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with at least 3 years of experience in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.Desired Characteristics:Highly-motivated, self-starting, and passionateKnowledge of power electronics and energy storagePower electronic component design experiencePower electronic control design experienceCoding experience in MATLAB/Simulink, python, C/C++, VBA, etc.Familiarity with ethernet/CAN communication protocolsKnowledge of electrical engineering fundamentalsKnowledge of thermodynamics and heat transferKnowledge of model-based systems engineering methodsDemonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skillsRefined communication skills and willingness to continually improve communication and influencing skills in more-distributed work environmentsFlexible and friendly approach to working in teamsProject planning and project management experienceKeen listener and innate drive to succeedThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
