This position is a hybrid role (3x per week onsite) that will be based at our headquarters in Fremont, California.
PV Performance Modeling Engineer-Solar Energy will report directly to the Performance Engineering Manager.
This role involves enhancing the internal performance modeling engine through the incorporation of new features, refining the modeling process, and addressing bugs and errors. Collaboration with fellow performance engineers and software professionals is crucial to implementing innovative ideas and enhancing the tool's overall functionality. This position demands proficient programming skills, experience in agile environments, and a distinct advantage if possessing a background and knowledge in PV technology.
Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:
  • Develop performance modeling software tools to estimate the energy yield of Photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • Research and develop new modeling algorithms to enhance the speed and accuracy of the in-house performance tools.
  • Perform code testing, defect fixes, and production support, using agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with the software engineering team to implement enhancements to the tool.
  • Analyze Solar PV system performance from simulated and empirically collected power generation data and draw conclusions.
  • Determine and propose potential enhancements to control algorithms based on modeled and measured field data.
  • Conduct sensitivity studies on multivariate and multifactorial system behavior
  • Implement uncertainty quantification and residual analysis by leveraging various statistical techniques.
Here is some of what you'll need (required):
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent disciplines.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with programming, or software development.
  • Strong programming and software skills (preferably in Python or GO language).
  • Proven ability to prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, self-motivated.
Having these is a plus:
  • Experience with pvlib, PVsyst, SAM, or other PV software/models.
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree

Pay Range (Applicable to California)
$100,000.00 - $150,000.00 dependent on level of experience
