Century Aluminum Sebree is currently looking for a Process Engineer to work in the Electrode Department. Their principle area of focus will be in the green mill, where calcined petroleum coke and coal tar pitch are combined to form the green anode. The ideal candidate will be data driven, inquisitive, and have a hands-on approach to problem solving.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. degree in engineering, natural science or equivalent technical discipline
  • Ability to apply statistical methodology to process control and problem solving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
  • Experience with statistical software systems; Minitab experience is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor incoming raw material properties
  • Monitor and adjust anode recipe based on raw materials and operational factors
  • Collect, analyze and report operating data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Based off data, propose and execute experiments to improve anode quality and/or reduce costs
  • Constantly strive to improve the quality and consistency of the green anode through process optimization
  • Working with production operators, the candidate will review, update, and as necessary develop Safe Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, coordinate and provide technical support for process/production control/reliability of the green mill
  • Identifies equipment improvement projects and work flow improvements
  • Lead or contribute to problem solving/troubleshooting process disruptions as needed
  • Back fill for area supervisor as needed
  • Performs other related responsibilities as required or directed within the Electrode department

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primary work environment will be a combination of office and manufacturing spaces. The manufacturing area will require the following personal protection devices: safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, respirator, and flame retardant uniforms.
