Senior Software Engineer

Location: Pensacola, FL

Clearance: Active Secret. Must be able to obtain TS/SCI and DHS suitability prior to starting employment.

Education: BS Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, OR a related field. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.

Description:

Raytheon is supporting a U.S. Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment, including introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats. Raytheon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Applies current analytical and logical thinking to the design, architecture, development, evaluation, testing, and integration of computer systems, appliances, and networks involving the architecture and implementation of the Splunk product.
  2. Applies attention to detail for out-of-the-box thinking with a problem-solving mindset, able to work under pressure, and deliver on tight delivery schedules.
  3. Displays superb understanding and knowledge of a multitude of technologies including firewalls, web application firewalls, VPNs, DNS, Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, and proxies.
  4. Develops security systems for manual or automated systems environments.
  5. Ensures logging of mission and organizational data against unauthorized disclosure, accidental or intentional loss of data, or unauthorized modification.
  6. Administers the management of all Splunk components, software, hardware, licensing, and all other aspects of the information system, as well as Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the system.
  7. Provides Splunk administration, management, troubleshooting, and testing.
  8. Supports Projects and Project management personnel throughout the full software development lifecycle.
  9. Manages technology roadmaps with each product and proposes briefs and reports to elaborate on recommended actions based on best practices.
  10. Works with a variety of different tools and appliances, security problems, and troubleshooting various complex issues.
  11. Performs full product testing to the extent of the product's capabilities as required by the customer and the program.
  12. Develops capabilities according to customer requirements and NIST, DHS, and Government guidelines and regulations.

Required Skills:

  1. An active Secret security clearance is required with the eligibility to obtain a TS/SCI. TS/SCI is preferred.
  2. Must be able to obtain DHS suitability prior to starting employment.
  3. 8+ years of directly relevant experience.
  4. Experience and/or familiarity with network protection devices: Firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), log analysis, malware analysis, network traffic flow, and packet analysis.

Desired Skills:

  1. Strong troubleshooting and networking skills.
  2. In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  3. Understanding of Cloud technologies, methodologies, and processes such as AWS or Azure.
  4. Experience managing and administering Splunk Enterprise Security, Splunk Cloud, and Splunk in the Cloud environments.
  5. Familiarity with RSA Security Analytics (NetWitness), Symantec Bluecoat, CyberArk, ForeScout CounterAct, McAfee ePO, FireEye, Cisco FirePower (SourceFire), RedSeal, SecureSphere Imperva, Tenable Nessus, Splunk, Cloud technologies, Splunk Cloud, and DevSecOps processes.
  6. Understanding of Project Management processes including SAFe and Agile, SDLC, and DevSecOps.

Required Education:

BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, OR Computer Systems Engineering. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.

Splunk Administrator, Splunk Enterprise Security, Splunk Architect, Splunk Consultation, Splunk Cloud, etc.
