Who We Are
Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro is a leading autonomous technology company with vehicles on road today in California and Texas. The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.
About The Role
Our robotics team is growing and we are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Mapping & Localization team. We're searching for an engineer with experience building and maintaining tools for autonomous navigation map generation and annotation, and a strong desire to contribute to the future of robot navigation for logistics and transportation.
About The Work
- Design and implement computer vision & 3D geometry related ML pipelines used in various L&M systems
- Investigate state-of-the-art algorithms for long term experimental projects related to mapping and semantic understanding
- Work cross functionally with other ML teams to integrate algorithms into centralized architectures
- Scope out and assist in implementing labeling taxonomies and methodologies, as well as data mining
- Work closely with other autonomy engineers to integrate detection pipelines into the autonomy system and analyze resource usage
About You
- Computer vision, 3D geometry, or robotics related ML applications
- “Integration experience” - ability/background in working with robotics systems, practical real-world considerations in design/implementation
- Either good breadth of understanding (is able to perform all listed responsibilities) or good depth (is able to perform a subset with lots of depth).
Bonus points:
- Systems coding (C++ or equivalent)
- Experience with Transformer ML architectures
- Experience with topics in ML based mapping
- Robotics related topics (SLAM, nonlinear optimization, state estimation, probabilistic filtering, 3D/visual geometry)
