As an engineer at Databricks, the primary objective for this role is to contribute to Databricks' pursuit of increasing the number of our monthly active users on our platform. The ideal candidate will possess the autonomy and influence to enact necessary changes within the product to support this overarching goal. Viewed as a significant and impactful position, it will involve engagement across all facets of the product.

Job Description

At Databricks, we are obsessed with enabling data teams to solve the world's toughest problems, from security threat detection to cancer drug development. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI infrastructure platform, so our customers can focus on the high value challenges that are central to their own missions.

Our engineering teams build highly technical products that fulfill real, important needs in the world. We develop and operate one of the largest scale software platforms. The fleet consists of millions of virtual machines, generating terabytes of logs and processing exabytes of data per day. At our scale, we regularly observe cloud hardware, network, and operating system faults, and our software must gracefully shield our customers from any of the above.

The Impact you will have:

  • Significantly influencing the direction and roadmap for the Databricks product.
  • Driving concrete initiatives and changes that directly impact key metrics like monthly active users.
  • Potentially replacing the level of input currently provided by leadership.
  • Stepping into a highly visible and impactful role within the engineering organization.
  • Taking ownership of technical design and implementation for various growth projects.

What we look for:

  • 15+ years industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Front-end development with full-stack capabilities, indicating a strong understanding of user interface development as well as the ability to handle back-end services.
  • Deep understanding of product and the ability to translate requirements technically.
  • Hands-on technical skills and a track record of delivering on projects.
  • Energy and initiative to take on new challenges rather than staying static.
  • Ability to effectively partner with and balance the input of the creative leader David.
  • Local presence in San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle.
  • A growth hacking and user-centric mindset to drive optimization and new users.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.
