Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: Kinston, NC
Salary: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Electrical Engineer to take on a pivotal role in driving power distribution and electrical safety at our manufacturing site. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with both cutting-edge technology and legacy systems, contributing to the ongoing reliability and continuous improvement of our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Power Distribution Expertise: Provide comprehensive engineering support for all aspects of power distribution, including medium and low voltage systems, ensuring seamless operations across the site.
- Electrical Standards Leadership: Develop, maintain, and enforce site-wide electrical standards, championing a culture of safety and compliance.
- Electrical Safety Champion: Lead initiatives to uphold and enhance our electrical safety culture, driving safety-first practices across the team.
- Utility Collaboration: Serve as the primary interface with the local utility company, managing high voltage sources and ensuring reliable power delivery.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Collaborate closely with operations and the electrical team to diagnose and resolve control issues, leveraging your expertise in electrical systems.
- Infrastructure Evaluation & Strategy: Assess and maintain substation and motor control center infrastructure, developing a forward-looking 5-year strategy for upgrades and enhancements.
- Capital Project Design: Support capital improvement projects with electrical design expertise, ensuring adherence to local and national standards. Potential for expanded involvement in large-scale projects.
- Reliability Program Leadership: Guide reliability programs for electrical equipment, creating and refining preventative maintenance procedures to ensure long-term operational success.
- Arc Flash & Coordination Settings: Finalize and maintain arc flash settings using advanced software, and implement coordination settings for 480V substations to optimize performance.
- Failure Analysis: Lead in-depth failure analysis efforts related to site power distribution, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
- Code Compliance: Interpret and apply NEC, local electrical codes, and NFPA standards to ensure all site operations meet regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in a plant manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with E&I drawings, including electrical schematics, logic diagrams, and P&I diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for power distribution systems, using a combination of drawings, diagnostic data, and field observations.
- Experience in sizing electrical installations and specifying equipment for site upgrades.
Preferred:
- Proven track record of safely executing electrical work in an industrial setting.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, single-loop controllers, and process interlocks.
- Knowledge of electrical standards and Process Safety Management (PSM) procedures.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting substation diagnostics and working with B-phase grounded and high resistance ground systems.
