KBR has a software position for an entry level developer to serve on a Simulation Engineering team at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center (JSC). The position supports the development and maintenance of the Training Systems and Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF) software systems supporting network switching and routing, firmware controllers, and interfaces to external payloads within the facilities.


Responsibilities:

  1. Candidate must have strong problem-solving experience using computer programming and experience in C++ software development.
  2. Linux or UNIX skills are required.
  3. Candidate must be able to perform simple and complex software builds and integrate software with other developers.
  4. Must possess good oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively and coordinate actions with both internal and external customers.

Work & Experience Requirements:

B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree. Software development experience using C++ with UNIX or Linux skills are required. The ideal candidate must be able to develop and maintain the real-time Payload training system associated with the mathematics and physical science governing spacecraft systems and dynamics in the Training Systems and SVMF facilities. The applicant will be responsible for providing technical support in the analysis and resolution of software-related problems. Knowledge and experience in Python and Agile software development methods are a plus. Candidates with prior experience with the Space Station Training Faculty (SSTF), Training Systems 21st Century (TS21), or SVMF will have a significant advantage. Applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Strong initiative, teamwork and problem-solving skills are required.
