This position works onsite at our Alameda, CA location in the LINGO Division. Personalized healthcare is the future. You will drive towards highly collaborative, cross-functional Agile Release Trains (ARTs) using Agile Scrum and Scaled Agile ceremonies and practices. You will play a critical role in leading and driving program success, fostering continuous improvement, and acting as a binding agent that connects a “team of teams.” You will ensure the Agile Release Train (ART) stays on course by facilitating ART events and processes. You will work closely with QA, Product, Security, DevOps, Architecture, and Software Development teams to deliver value and meet sprint goals. You will be the master organizer of the agile teams’ workload and will define the agenda for and orchestrate the activities during and after each sprint planning session.
What you’ll do
- Plan and lead ART ceremonies and events, such as the ART Scrum of Scrums, Quarterly (PI) Planning, and Inspect & Adapt (I&A) workshops.
- Work with Product Owners, Tech Leads, and other stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment.
- Establish and communicate calendars for iterations and program increments.
- Facilitate program increment (PI) planning, PI planning readiness, Scrum of Scrums, system demos, system demo readiness, and other relevant ART-level syncs; assist with PO sync meetings.
- Be responsible for the integration checkpoints across agile teams within the train along with Tech Leads.
- Take ownership of execution and delivery; be the single contact point for business teams to achieve communication efficiency and avoid confusion.
- Help manage risks and dependencies; escalate and track impediments.
Required Skills
Personality & Collaboration
- Collaboration, KPI and Goals Driven technologist with automation mindset.
- Closely work with Engineering, Cloud, Product and Program Management Teams to define the roadmap and eliminate friction in the smoother progression of the release train.
- Strong affinity to platform engineering principles in providing everything as a service to Engineering and Cloud teams.
Compliance and Regulatory
- Collaborate with Abbott Quality and Regulatory teams in delivering the pipelines in compliance with FDA and other regulatory requirements.
- Work with Cyber Security team in ensuring the overall pipeline integrity and security is built ground up.
- Working experience with healthcare domain is preferred (but not required).
Technical Skills & Expertise
- Hands-on automation using one or more of the scripting and programming languages like Bash, Python or Go.
- Configuration driven automation such as YAML, JSON.
- Experience with Azure Cloud and Azure PaaS services is preferable.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Puppet.
- Proficiency in containerization, orchestration and deployment technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and Helm/Charts.
- Experience in building CI/CD pipelines using Github, Github Actions/Workflow, Harness (harness.io) and other CI/CD tools.
- Experience building build infrastructure including Github Actions Runners, Harness, Harness Runners, etc.
- Experience building and automating release artifacts and process for Mobile Apps for iOS and Android.
- Experience in building, packaging and deploying pipelines.
- Experience in Internal and External Test Management (Google Play Console, Google Play Store and Apple Store).
- Experience building DevOps pipelines for Cloud Native, Microservices and WebApps across various cloud infrastructure and PaaS services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Software Development, computer science, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a release train engineer, or combination of a master’s degree in a related field with 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with Scrum project management, agile software development, and software version control management.
- Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software.
- Strong familiarity with ART product vision and experience.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and tactical and leadership skills.
- Servant leader with strong interpersonal skills who can listen and support teams on problem identification and decision making.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead and empower diverse product teams and influence technologists and tech leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holds SAFe Release Train Engineer certification.
