What You Will Be Doing

The Office of Information Technology is adding to our web applications team with a new flexibly staffed role that allows you to come in as a Junior Full Stack Web Developer and promote to the Senior level after the training plan is completed. Get excited for a dynamic and innovative environment where you’ll have the opportunity to learn and lead/mentor on a variety of projects while you help shape the future of our enterprise IT infrastructure.

Hone those skills in designing cutting edge web applications and systems, develop, test, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure systems such as myAlaska, BEACHES, address verification service, online public notices, Confluence, and so much more.


Who We Are Looking For

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

  • Object Technology: Knowledge of the principles, methods, tools, and techniques that use object-oriented languages, analysis, and design methodologies.
  • Computer Languages: Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions.
  • Database Management Systems: Knowledge of the uses of database management systems and software to control the organization, storage, retrieval, security, and integrity of data.

Systems Programmer 1
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

  • Hardware: Knowledge of specifications, uses, and types of computer or computer-related equipment.
  • Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications.
  • Systems Integration: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training in computer science, information technology, or system administration – or a similar field or professional experience – that provided knowledge of systems, networking software, hardware, protocols, and scripting/automation tools.

Systems Programmer 2
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

  • Hardware: Knowledge of specifications, uses, and types of computer or computer-related equipment.
  • Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications.
  • Systems Integration: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.
  • Systems Testing and Evaluation: Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for analyzing and developing systems testing and evaluation procedures and technical characteristics of IT systems, including identifying critical operational issues.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training in computer science, information technology, system administration, or a similar field and professional experience in database, network, or system administration.
