We're actively seeking a talented Applications Development professional to join our Data Engineering team in Newport Beach. This role can be on-site, hybrid or 100% remote.

This individual contributor role will be responsible for execution and technology components around the entire development lifecycle (ideation, build, support, and sunset) and modernization of solutions for the Actuarial area, in addition to supporting existing systems and day-to-day processes. Team members may include contractors, consultants, and full-time employees. The team will work with other teams within IT to supply necessary capabilities to fulfill business outcomes and goals and will thus need to be able to manage informally as well as formally.

Specific goals of the Modernization program are:

  • Shorten the length of time to close quarterly financial reporting results
  • Enhance the environment of control and quality
  • Enhance troubleshooting Prophet Enterprise environments
  • Position the organization to scale in support of significant sales growth goals
  • Position the organization to manage inforce and reinsurance transactions more quickly and effectively

How you will help us move forward:

Builds and Tests:

  • Technical Builds : This resource leads the design, development, and implementation of actuarial systems, ensuring everything is built to meet business needs, with a strong focus on quality and adherence to deadlines and budgets.
  • Model Configuration and Optimization : They provide hands-on support for configuring and optimizing the Prophet actuarial model, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and ensuring systems run efficiently.

Communicates:

  • Technical Communication : They are responsible for clearly explaining technical decisions, changes, and challenges to IT leadership and other stakeholders, making sure everyone understands the impacts and benefits.
  • Documentation : They document technical architectures, solutions, and changes in a way that is catered to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Thought Leadership and Ideation:

  • Standards and Solutions : This resource enforces best practices, standard processes, and methodologies, ensuring that all technical work aligns with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Vision and Strategy : They contribute to the technical vision by aligning solutions with the enterprise architecture and providing input on technical roadmaps that drive modernization and innovation.

Execution:

  • Execution of Projects : They manage the technical aspects of projects, ensuring that all solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and are of high quality.
  • External Deliverables : They review and take ownership of technical deliverables from external resources, ensuring they meet internal standards and project goals.

The experience you bring:

  • Technical experience on Prophet Professional, Prophet Enterprise, Prophet PRD, Prophet Orchestrator
  • Technical experience in a subset of the following technologies: Prophet, any cloud based platform (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.), Java, SQL, Python, Linux, or Windows HPC
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively with Actuarial teams and support the Actuarial function
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Management, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or related field.
  • 10+ years of Actuarial technology experience implementing finance, accounting, planning, forecasting, modeling and reporting solutions
