Job Summary:

Our Field Engineers are job-site leaders in health and safety, ensuring quality of reporting and workmanship, and that all engineering work is completed in a professional and ethical manner. Reporting to a Project Engineer or Project Manager, your main functions will include contract administration, project planning, scheduling, and project reporting. This role plays an advisory role to Project Management for contractual, legal, and other project issues.

Essential Responsibilities:

Field Engineering:

  • Reading and interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
  • Support in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data
  • Will be compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets
  • Participating in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training
  • Order and schedule material deliveries
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
  • Supervise field operations

Office Engineering:

  • Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
  • Support Engineers in gathering and preparing data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use
  • Prepare purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requested
  • Assist in schedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by others
  • Maintain basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums
  • Assist with entering data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management
  • Generate change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations

Estimating:

  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid
  • Complete a plan and specification review for an assigned project and assessing the risk areas
  • Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents


Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel to project sites and stay at site for duration of the project we operate on a national scale and projects are located in small and large cities
  • Two plus years of construction field experience
  • Work experience in a Field Engineering position or like role such as Surveyor, Foreperson, Superintendent and/or Project Coordinator
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related (is preferred)
  • Strong computer background including experience with Microsoft Office and scheduling software, such as Primavera
  • Experience with other construction planning and management software (3D model viewers and/or document management systems) (is preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal and written form
  • Knowledge of main construction office processes: project set up; subcontract management; change management; RFIs (request for information) technical reviews and project closeout
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

Working Conditions:

  • Site based position
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 75 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule that could include nights and weekends
  • Compensation Range $64,000-$96,000
