Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design EngineerJob DescriptionWe design, engineer, produce, and service industrial power systems and control systems in electric rotating machinery and motors for mining, mills, and heavy industry. We manufacture DC, AC, and synchronous motors and convert DC to AC to make mining, mills, and heavy industry applications more autonomous.As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will research, design, develop, document, build, and test complex AC/DC electrical motors, components, and/or accessories. You will provide leadership for new and improved electric motor products and support them in production, sales, servicing, troubleshooting, and necessary updates. You will analyze and consult on how the electric motors and/or components meet customer expectations for design.Your time will be divided as follows: 75% desk role working in CAD, 15% traveling nationwide for customer visits, and 10% on the shop floor working with engineering and production.Additional responsibilities include:Design and develop new DC, AC induction, and AC synchronous motors/generators within Autodesk InventorAnalyze historical data to improve existing designsManage projects from conception to completionProvide technical leadership and mentoring to team membersCreate motor test requirements and performance specificationsDevelop engineering solutions based on customer needsReview and approve customer designsPrepare technical documentation for design, manufacturing, and installationCreate and maintain product specifications and user manualsApprove design drawings and manage change processesOptimize project execution for time, cost, and functionalityResolve manufacturing engineering issuesStay current with industry technology trendsConduct design reviews and support the Engineering Design teamContribute to customer proposals and technical specificationsHard SkillsBachelor's Degree in Engineering (ME, MET, EE, or EET)10+ years of experience5+ years of Autodesk Inventor experience (3D modeling)Soft SkillsAbility to work and communicate cross-functionally with various groups (engineering team, project management team, sales team, customers)Job TypeThis is a permanent position.Work SiteThis is a fully on-site position in Evansville, Indiana.Work EnvironmentMonday through Friday, 40-hour weeks (1st shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST). 15% of the role will be traveling to customers nationwide for visits (trips are typically two to three days long during the work week).About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
