Overview

SSOE is seeking a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer with experience leading an engineering design team from preliminary engineering through construction. Required skills include the development, completion of engineering calculations, equipment sizing, selection, and preparation of equipment and construction specifications. Coordination with multi-discipline engineering and design teams is needed to deliver design and construction deliverables.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include:

  1. Mechanical process engineer should have industrial and power piping and equipment experience, either design or maintenance.
  2. Candidate will be responsible for design and construction deliverables for projects on industrial chemical and power utility, including boilers.
  3. This position also requires a working knowledge of pipe stress analysis, along with field experience on project installation or implementation being a plus.
  4. Leading engineering studies, writing reports, developing and completing engineering calculations.
  5. Preparing designs for plant installations, coordinating with design/drafting staff, and preparing equipment and construction specifications.
  6. Specifications will include major items of rotating equipment such as boilers, compressors, turbines, and pumps. Other equipment will include pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other manufacturing equipment.
  7. Working as team leader to complete designs, including working with PFDs and P&IDs.
  8. Coordinating with multi-discipline engineering and design teams to complete necessary project tasks.
  9. Leading the preparation of bid packages and equipment purchasing.
  10. Delivering quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment collaborating with colleagues and clients.
  11. Representing the firm in meetings and conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate a project.
  12. Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing a medium to large engineering project or a number of smaller complex projects with overall responsibility for budget adherence, schedule adherence, quality control, and inter-discipline coordination.
  13. Responsible for acceptance or rejection of major items involving materials, equipment, manufacturer's quality, and field construction.
  14. Defining project scope of work and organizing into manageable tasks.
  15. Maintaining continuing professional education in discipline.
  16. Taking part in client contact and business development activities.
  17. Meeting with clients to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
  18. Performing field work to support the above responsibilities.
  19. Travel required.

Qualifications

Qualifications You'll Need on Day One:

  1. Bachelor Degree in Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  2. PE, or PE-tracked preferred, plus 10+ years of related practical experience with former employer(s).
  3. Previous experience in the A/E industry is a must.
