The Lead Platform Engineer is responsible for driving platform strategy and support for the Private Cloud infrastructure services environment. This includes performing design analysis, creating and maintaining documentation, planning, testing and implementation. This role requires experience and product knowledge in the areas of server virtualization, storage, networking, operating systems, and automation.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform design analysis, documentation, and planning for strategic IT initiatives/solutions
  • Provide technical design guidance, governance and support to platform engineering teams
  • Engage external vendors when needed to review standard methodologies, architecture and design proposals, and solve complex problems
  • Actively engage in strategic goals for Private Cloud engineering, the department, and the organization
  • Create and update technical/architectural/strategic documentation in support of the Private Cloud infrastructure
  • Provide design and Senior engineering level escalation technical support to platform teams
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
  • Provide input and follow-through on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
  • Ensure delivered solutions enable infrastructure agility, scalability, and resilience to support required product needs throughout product lifecycle
  • Maintain and enhance platform configurations to meet the demands and requirements of our customers
  • Provide immediate support for production issues related to areas of expertise
  • Provide support for off-hour / weekend implementation and Disaster Recovery tests as required
  • Author system documentation and supporting documents to ensure transparency of design to minimize future maintenance costs
  • Deliver targeted business outcomes by participating in the technical decision-making process
  • Analyze changing business requirements to determine impact and optimal solution regarding defining the future state technical architecture
  • Follow established DTCC requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise (standard processes)
  • Apply knowledge of technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to contribute to the decision-making process
  • Monitor metrics to ensure system performance meets requirements
  • Ensure alignment to the governance, standards and best practices established by DTCC
  • Align risk and control processes into day to day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; advances appropriately

Talents Needed For Success:

  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong background in server virtualization (primarily VMware) planning and design
  • Strong background in storage technologies (block, file, object) planning and design
  • Working knowledge of networking (layer 2 and layer 3 connectivity)
  • Working knowledge of automation and orchestration at an Enterprise level
  • Familiarity with Operating Systems (i.e., Windows, UNIX, LINUX) a plus
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can support multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
