MWH Constructors , a global leader in construction management and heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently seeking a Resident Engineer for a large heavy civil construction project in Southern New England. The project consists of earthwork and the construction of cast-in-place concrete structures. The Resident Engineer is the owner's representative for this public works project and provides oversight of the activities of the contractor.
Essential Functions
- Manage a team of construction inspectors and others.
- Coordinate daily inspections of the work including documentation and reporting.
- Coordinate meetings, weekly progress meetings, and special meetings. Prepare agendas and minutes.
- Execute the Quality Assurance Plan.
- Review baseline schedule and monthly progress updates.
- Review and verify monthly applications for payment.
- Process contractor's submittals.
- Process requests for information.
- Evaluate contractor's cost proposals.
- Oversee the change management system.
- Manage the project risk register.
- With the Safety Specialist, implement the safety plan of the construction management team.
- With the Safety Specialist, observe and document the contractor's adherence to the requirements of its project health & safety plan.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similar field.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience as resident engineer or project manager in heavy civil construction.
- Thorough understanding of construction cast-in-place concrete structures.
- Strong focus and skills for construction safety.
- Mangement, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience in change order management and defense of claims.
- Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards.
- Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, BlueBeam, or Adobe Acrobat software.
- Familiarity with project management information systems.
- Must be able to enter awkward and confined spaces on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current registration as a professional engineer.
- PMP or CCM certification.
- Experience in water/wastewater construction.
- Experience in underground construction.
- Proficiency using Primavera P6 Professional.
