The Role
We’re looking for an ambitious, product-minded founding engineer to join us, reporting to the CEO. This is an in person position in New York City (at least 60% of your time will be spent in the office with leaders and builders). You’ll build category-defining products for everyday users and shape our engineering roadmap.
In this role you will:
- Obsess over the user experience and drive product roadmap. We want to gain consumer mindshare with delightful user experiences to become the go-to platform for people to transparently exercise their legal rights. There is a massive opportunity for a unified, trusted legal platform that is accessible to anyone seeking justice. You will have the ability to heavily influence the company’s roadmap to bring this to fruition.
- Ship and rapidly iterate. We must move with urgency because millions are unable to receive adequate justice, while the legal industry remains obfuscated due to complex legal proceedings and information asymmetry. Your time will be primarily be spent on prototyping, coding, testing, pushing products to production, improving upon user feedback, and establishing engineering excellence.
- Build for Scale and Flexibility . We will be shipping fast and targeting fragmented markets across the US, each of which will have varying needs from a regional and state level, down to neighborhoods within cities. This growth comes with learning new playbooks while developing our own repeatable strategies. You’ll collaborate closely with leaders to balance great user experiences with varying regulatory requirements to add fire to our growth. It’s a complex challenge that keeps us excited every day.
- Partner with operations, go-to-market, and legal product teams across the company . You'll be a valued voice for articulating product vision and technical roadmap to further our mission. Given the complexities of having multiple participants in the ecosystem we are building, you must be comfortable with cross-functional collaboration in order to succeed.

The Requirements
- Domain expertise in full-stack development (Typescript, Next Js, Python etc), experience with shipping to users at scale and mobile development is a big plus.
- Bonus points for experience building and structuring engineering teams from 0 to 10 engineers.
- Bonus points for experience building in regulated industries where compliance, user security, and data privacy are paramount.
- Experience with having exposure to product and prioritizing. You’ll need to understand the company’s mission, influence strategic objectives, and prototype the highest potential areas for .
- 100% Commitment. This must be your full time and top commitment (not part time). This role has great opportunities for growth alongside the company, and your plan is to grow with it for at least the next 2 years. This role isn't suitable for people who have a side hustle at this time.
