What's the role?
We are seeking a passionate Sr. Software Engineer who will help in the developing and executing disaster recovery strategies. You will collaborate with vendors, solve complex technical issues, and ensure compliance with security and legal standards.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cumulative of prior level plus following:
  • Develop, maintain and execute on disaster recovery / redundancy strategies.
  • Subject Matter Expert of one or more technology Domains.
  • Partnering with vendors and enterprise teams on emerging best practices, patterns and technology.
  • Proactively learn emerging platforms and related technology.
  • Ability to solve complex technical issues and enable/teach peers to be self sufficient.
  • Establish and maintain best practices as it relates to compliance, security, privacy and legal requirements.
  • Anticipate deviations from standard practices and find practical ways to move forward.
  • Closely follow industry trends relevant to your domain and understand how to apply them to your work as appropriate.
  • Break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable ones, and help others to do the same.
  • Understand what tools are available and useful for your domain, how they work, and the sorts of situations and problems for which they're useful.
  • Use them effectively and teach them to your teammates.
Qualifications
  • Holds a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Possesses 4+ years of professional experience
  • At least 4+ years of VMWare Experience
  • Demonstrates expertise in IT, specializing in various operating systems or hosting platforms.
  • Skilled in performance optimization of application stacks.
  • Experienced with Cloud-based PaaS and SaaS platforms, and their integration with On-Premise infrastructure.
  • Proficient in virtualization and containerization.
  • Adept at system monitoring and performance management.
  • Exhibits strong scripting development skills.
  • Knowledgeable in networking.
  • Experienced with Identity Platforms and relevant tools.
  • Proficient in modern development and scripting languages.
  • Familiar with CICD methodologies, including tools, branching strategies, and delivering infrastructure as a product.
  • Exhibits exceptional troubleshooting skills within one's domain, with solid competencies in adjacent areas.
  • Understands both traditional and cloud computing technologies, covering aspects such as Networking, Compute, Storage, Development, Data, Operations, or Security.
  • Holds administrative and configuration expertise in one of the following: AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, or Windows.
  • An adept practitioner of multiple delivery methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.

Compensation Range:
Pay Range - Start:
$90,930.00
Pay Range - End:
$168,870.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
