Position Summary:
As part of Walmart’s Global Sourcing Backend team, you will be building highly scalable and reliable APIs, services and applications which will drive the next generation purchase order management system. You’ll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of this fast-moving and highly entrepreneurial team, you’ll be able to say that you work for the world’s largest retailer and contribute to innovation and development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.
About Team:
Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.
What you'll do:
- Design & develop highly scalable services and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology.
- Gain exposure to various emerging technologies used in Advertising and E-commerce platforms.
- Provide technical direction, architecture leadership and expertise to the team.
- Lead by example. Show your chops as an exceptional and experienced developer.
- Drive projects of high visibility across the organization.
- Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project, product and business requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirement); designing robust and scalable architectures; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) and 9+ years of experience building scalable applications.
- Experience in internet-scale distributed technologies (e.g. Solr, Kafka, Mem Cache, etc.).
- Relevant experience with relational and no-sql databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
- Ability to explain complex subjects in layman’s terms.
- Experience with distributed version control like Git or similar.
- Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Jenkins and Maven.
- Strong experience interfacing with Web Services platforms.
- Strong expertise in development of scalable cloud native microservices.
- Strong expertise in designing and building APIs.
- Strong expertise with Cloud Technologies like Azure and GCP.
- Strong Expertise in Java, Scala, Object Oriented & Functional Programming, Design Patterns.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Knowledge in creating inclusive digital experiences, implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
