The Role
The Mission Critical Center of Excellence manages billions of dollars in projects annually, specializing in data center and mission-critical construction for leading technology and telecommunications clients across the United States. Focused on fast-paced, MEP-intensive projects, the group is recognized for delivering complex solutions while offering significant opportunities for career advancement within the thriving mission-critical construction industry.
The Project Engineer, QA/QC, will be responsible for managing quality assurance and quality control documentation, as well as overseeing document control and other related project processes. This role involves developing and maintaining logs associated with field QC processes and ensuring the timely resolution of outstanding issues. Additionally, the Project Engineer, QA/QC, will support field activities by conducting daily inspections and monitoring the closure of open items.
Collaboration with subcontractors is a key aspect of this position, ensuring that all quality processes are adhered to in accordance with specifications and contractual obligations. The Project Engineer, QA/QC, will also be responsible for uploading and maintaining all QA/QC records.
This position is for a data center project near South Bend, Indiana.
Responsibilities
- Assist with developing standard operating procedures and processes to achieve the highest levels of quality associated with delivering a completed construction project.
- Assist with the creation of project specific Quality Management Plans and verify implementation of plan for each project.
- Assist with the development of Quality metrics that empower teams to review information on quality execution; work cross-functionally with operations to address any trends.
- Assist with random site evaluations, including follow-up evaluations to ensure corrections have been made to deficiencies.
- Create mechanisms for sharing best practices and quality issues across project teams and among all quality personnel.
- Act as a resource for field operations with compliance on Federal and State regulatory requirements as well as local quality regulations including: ADA, ASHE, NFPA, UL, ASTM, and FBC.
- Assist as needed on developing and updating comprehensive training curriculum for all field operations, Quality Department Staff, and Subcontractors.
- Stay abreast of trends and evolving best practices by participating in organizations and forums dedicated to Quality. Keep the Company informed of the latest updates on best practices and standards.
- Represent Suffolk with Owners, Architects, Consultants, Government Authorities, Vendors and Subcontractors.
- Build effective working relationships with clients, trade partners, and the Suffolk project team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Quality Management or demonstrated equivalent field.
- 2 plus years of experience in related construction fields.
- Solid understanding of means and methods of construction
- Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry
- Working knowledge of national and State code and quality regulations/standards.

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
