Senior Director, Software Engineering

Summary: The Senior Director of Software Development will provide leadership and technical expertise within our dynamic Technology Department. The ideal candidate will have a proven record in software development, team management, and driving innovation. You will manage a team of skilled leaders, lead all aspects of software projects, and play a major role in the department's technical vision and direction.

This role is a hybrid role that will work onsite 1-2 days per week at our Buffalo Grove, IL location. Occasional travel may be required as part of this position.

Responsibilities

1. Establish and implement software development best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes to ensure robust and reliable software solutions.
2. Supervise and analyze metrics to assess performance and drive continuous improvement.
3. Define and complete the software development strategy in alignment with Onbe's goals.
4. Provide leadership on Lean/Agile principles and development practices.
5. Utilize project management tools to track progress and recognize key risk areas for specific implementations.
6. Create an engineering culture that supports innovation and creativity while delivering high-quality products with predictability and reliability.
7. Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams.

Qualifications

1. Candidates possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. 10 years+ in Director level position leading software development teams and delivering sophisticated software projects.
3. Experience with Java technologies and Data Engineering.
4. Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development, architecture, and design.
5. Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to empower and encourage technical teams.
6. Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and provide a high level of attention to detail.

The base salary range for this position is budgeted for $175,050 to $204,750 with eligibility for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of proven experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, business needs, and market demand.
