Job Requirements / Description

The position involves the planning of new development projects, from a civil engineering perspective, to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget while keeping company executives informed at all times. This position manages the development process, with a focus on civil engineering, from start to finish.

  1. Plan and coordinate project development activities relating to assigned projects.
  2. Preliminary site, civil and infrastructure analysis including preliminary cut and fill take off exercises, grading & drainage analysis.
  3. Preliminary site design to understand density options and comply with zoning restrictions.
  4. Collaborate with Project Management to obtain project proposals and develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  5. Collaborate with internal Planning & Design team.
  6. Coordinate due diligence work with third party vendors, i.e., ordering Alta/Geo/Phase1 etc.
  7. Coordinate civil, traffic engineers, environmental consultants, landscape design and site lighting.
  8. Competently read and understand civil engineering drawings and problem solve for any obstacles.
  9. Manage contracts and bids with vendors and suppliers.
  10. Build take-off budgets and proformas for various types of projects.
  11. Effectively communicate and convey with leadership on project updates, potential risks, technical challenges and recommend appropriate mitigation plans.
  12. Any and all other duties assigned by supervisor within the scope of employee’s ability.

Education & Experience:

  1. BS in Civil Engineering.
  2. Experience with ground up development and horizontal design management preferred.
  3. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D).
  4. Demonstrated experience in reading construction documents and specification manuals.
  5. Minimum 5 years Civil Engineering, project planning, oversight, and delivery experience.
  6. Collaboration: Develops, maintain, and strengthens collaborative relationships inside and outside the organization.
  7. Communication: Listens actively and expresses self clearly in conversations and interactions with others; expresses self clearly in business writing to effectively reach the audience.
  8. Results Orientation: Prioritizes projects to meet required deadlines. Carefully manages several projects at once, focusing on the desired end result of one’s work.
  9. Flexibility: Open to different and new ways of doing things; willing to modify one’s preferred way of doing things.
  10. Adaptability: Adaptable to the changing nature of the business.
