Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer
Job Overview:
A Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for overseeing and improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in production. This role involves leading process improvement initiatives, designing and implementing new manufacturing processes, troubleshooting production issues, and mentoring junior engineers. The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and support strategic manufacturing goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Process Design and Development:

  • Lead the design and development of new manufacturing processes for new products.
  • Evaluate and optimize existing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop detailed process documentation, including flowcharts, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Analyze process data and perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve production issues.
  1. Project Management:
  • Manage projects related to process development, improvement, and optimization.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, quality, and maintenance, to ensure project success.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and track project progress.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with industry standards, regulations, and company quality requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality control measures to monitor and improve process performance.
  • Collaborate with quality engineers to conduct process audits and address non-conformances.
  1. Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process-related issues.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex production problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and production staff on process optimization and problem-solving techniques.
  1. Technology and Innovation:
  • Stay current with advancements in manufacturing technology and best practices.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and equipment to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure manufacturing processes adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety audits and address any identified safety concerns.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of process designs, improvements, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare reports on process improvement initiatives, project status, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Document and communicate best practices and lessons learned to the engineering team.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing process engineering, with a proven track record of process improvement and project management.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in process design and optimization tools (e.g., CAD, CAM, FMEA).
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with manufacturing technologies and equipment, such as CNC machining, automation, and robotics.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and statistical process control (SPC).

Working Conditions:
  • Primarily based in a manufacturing facility.
  • May require occasional travel to other sites, suppliers, or customers.
  • Exposure to industrial environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in production areas.
