Description
The quality engineer is involved in a variety of projects, which include new product development, resolving quality problems, and improving areas of high quality costs. Work will be done in collaboration with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, and operations. In this position you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards by developing, implementing, and managing processes to ensure products conform to requirements.

Description
The quality engineer is involved in a variety of projects, which include new product development, resolving quality problems, and improving areas of high quality costs. In this position you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards by developing, implementing, and managing processes to ensure products conform to requirements.
Core Responsibilities
- Complete First Article inspections and documentation for the new product launch processes often within the context of a cross-functional project team.
- Provide documented instructions for performance of inspections.
- Provide technical support to resolve quality problems in manufacturing or with suppliers as warranted.
- Evaluate customer's specifications to implement controls to comply with those specifications.
- Define Quality requirements for effective change management.
- Support the goals of the Quality Department and Improvement Projects. Contribute ideas to these programs and work on implementation.
- Utilize and maintain Metrology equipment used to inspect and validate manufactured and purchased products.
- Implement best practices for measuring products and validating processes.
- Train Inspection personnel on the proper use and maintenance of measurement equipment.
- Exercises authority and judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for quality assurance.
- Implement statistical methods and tools to monitor and control manufacturing processes.
- Analyze SPC data to identify trends and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize knowledge of the Quality System to assess and ensure changes occurring create a positive impact on the quality system and business organization.
- Measurement equipment programming, including CMMs, Vision Systems, Multi-sensor machines, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication including effectively communicating technical information at all levels of the organization and with external customers.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant Science preferred, or equivalent level of experience.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a quality role with increasing responsibilities over time.
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001:2015, GMP, SQF.
- Proficiency in applying statistical methods and statistical software such as Minitab.
- Measurement equipment programming experience: CMM, Keyence, MicroVu, etc. preferred.
- Ability to write technical documentation, including procedures and work instructions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including success applying tools such as DMAIC, 8D, A3.
- Must have good organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple projects.
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, GD&T, product specifications, etc.
- PPAP, FMEA, CONTROL PLANS, DOE, GRR, risk management, problem solving
- Ability to use a computer and Microsoft software
