Job Summary: The Civil Engineer/Drafting Specialist is responsible for developing conceptual designs, performing calculations, preparing reports, and producing final engineering designs and construction documents. This role will support the successful completion of projects by collaborating with project teams and ensuring that all design requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Information Assessment: Research and review project requirements and design specifications to confirm adequacy for design completion, ensuring alignment with the overall design concept.
- Production Coordination: Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to coordinate key tasks and deadlines for project completion.
- CAD Setup: Select appropriate methods for generating drawings, utilizing customized CAD templates based on client requirements, standard templates for specific project types, or updating existing CAD files as needed.
- Drafting: Create accurate drawings in CAD based on project documentation and scope of work, making corrections as necessary during quality control reviews.
- Quality Control: Review drawings created by other drafters to ensure adherence to project scope and compliance with corporate drafting standards.
- Drawing Presentation: Present completed drawings to relevant personnel for review and approval before delivery.
- Drafting Support: Provide technical guidance and support to CAD Technicians and Designers as required.
- Design Recommendations: Collaborate with various departments, program managers, and engineers to gather information and make informed design-related recommendations.
- Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge: Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and drafting techniques, or the ability to quickly achieve proficiency.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze information, determine relevance, and visualize designs in 3D.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate questions, explanations, and suggestions.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with personal computers, including internet, email, PDF, and image software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in drafting and/or design roles is preferred.
- Experience in the Wireless Infrastructure Industry is a plus.
