As an Engineering Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent the engineering department at all management level meetings. You'll ensure that the engineering design, documentation, and approvals meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required.


The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.


Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant technical experience
  • Thorough Understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Thorough understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and computer science fundamentals
  • Thorough understanding of data structures and algorithm implementation within the C and C++ programming languages
  • Proficient experience using software version control systems (subversion, git, etc.)
  • Proficient experience using software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build
  • Experience designing and implementing software using Microsoft Visual Studio and/or other cross-compilation platforms
  • Experience designing and implementing software for Real-Time Operating Systems and/or embedded systems
  • Experience leading a highly-collaborative multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience planning and overseeing execution of multiple concurrent development efforts
  • Experience building and maintaining a high-performance team, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
  • Strong organization skills and work ethic
Preferred:
  • Typically 4-6 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience
  • Previous management experience; exposure to recruiting employees; assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Experience with identifying and coordinating resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available/effective and programs are staffed and supported to achieve success
  • Understanding of how to prepare project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
  • Ability to motivate/work with others
  • Prior exposure to working successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Python, MATLAB, and other programming languages
  • Familiarity and/or experience with computer graphics programming (OpenGL / Vulkan)
  • Familiarity and/or experience with machine learning principles and techniques
  • Interest in avionics systems, embedded software, drones, robotics, computer vision, control systems, statistics, mathematics and/or computer networking
