We're looking for a Staff II Robotics Software Engineer with a focus on perception to join our team. You should have a strong technical background and a curiosity to solve hard problems and develop new solutions. You will assist in full-stack autonomy development with the opportunity to work on a diverse set of robotics challenges ranging from control of large construction equipment, drone navigation and planning autonomous jet-ski perception, 3D scene reconstruction, and self-driving off-road vehicles. You will work with a strong team of scientists and engineers to help drive critical architecture decisions within our machine learning and computer vision pipeline.
What You'll Do
- Design and optimize implementation of cutting-edge localization and path planning systems for off-road vehicles.
- Enhance unified back-end architecture that coordinates tasking for multi-platform autonomy behaviors across a wide variety of UAGs and UAVs
- Simulate scenarios using tools such as Unreal and Gazebo
- Work with other team members (inside and outside of Neya) to provide ROS-compatible datasets for communication within the target architecture
- Assist in the development and implementation of unit testing of code using simulation tools and actual hardware.
- Debug and troubleshoot failures in complex scenarios while testing and/or deployment at customer sites
- Conduct field tests and experimental characterization of performance
- Identify new opportunities to deploy autonomy, target customers and customer engagement
- S or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering etc. or equivalent
- 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 3 years with a master's degree.
- Experience with autonomous and robotic systems
- Highly skilled in writing production-quality object-oriented code in C++, using a git-based workflow in a Linux environment
- Strong experience with publish/subscribe communication frameworks, especially ROS
- Experience with sensor data processing software libraries such as Open CV and PCL
- Experience with sensor data processing sensor error modeling, environment modeling, and simulation tools
- Proficient in applying modern software principles, architecture, and design
- Excellent mathematical reasoning skills, especially with probability
- Proficient with unit testing suites such as GTest, CppUnit
- Proficient in Agile software development cycle and development methodology
- Demonstrated success working as part of a cross-functional team
- Experience with developing robotics algorithms, such as sensor processing and perception, planning and vehicle control
- Experience with sensor data processing (e.g., monocular camera, stereo, LIDAR and/or RADAR)
- Experience with sensor calibration (intrinsic and/or extrinsic)
- Implementing SLAM systems
