Database Administrator (MongoDB) Local Candidates Only

Location:

2 days per week in Holmdel, NJ, Bethlehem, PA, or NYC (No relocation candidates only local applicants will be considered).
We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in MongoDB and secondary experience in one of the following: MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL. You will join a world-class database team with a mission to "Design, Build, Deliver, and Maintain database systems that are secure, highly available, peak performing, and issue-free."

Must-Have Skills:
  • Expertise in implementing and maintaining security controls for MongoDB in regulated environments.
  • Hands-on experience with MongoDB versions 5 to 7.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB external LDAP authentication.
  • Experience with MongoDB Ops Manager installation, configuration, and automation.
  • Proficient in MongoDB query tuning and optimization.
  • Shell scripting and automation experience.
  • Experience with MongoDB tools, including backup and restore processes.
  • Familiarity with AWS/Cloud services (EC2, RDS, Aurora).
  • Experience with cloud deployment tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, Terraform.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills for MongoDB.
  • Experience handling core database lifecycle processes such as upgrades, backups, recovery, and migrations.
  • Knowledge of data quality, data management, and data testing strategies.
  • Familiarity with ticketing and monitoring tools like ServiceNow, Zenoss, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AppDynamics.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with other databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple infrastructure tiers (application, network, database, server, storage).
  • Experience automating administrative tasks using scripts, cron jobs, or other techniques.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as SCCM, Puppet, or Ansible.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, providing 24x7 incident and outage response, including after-hours changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database and system issues, identifying the root cause.
  • Process support requests within SLA, adhering to documented procedures.
  • Escalate issues to vendors when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Thoroughly document resolutions and fulfill service requests via ServiceNow.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles.
  • Proactively identify and resolve recurring issues to improve system stability and performance.
  • Provide feedback on defects and suggest improvements for product/infrastructure stability and automation.
  • Lead or participate in projects related to cloud migration, lifecycle management, performance optimization, capacity planning, and automation.
Note: This role requires occasional on-site work and participation in an on-call rotation. Applicants must be local to the specified areas.
