Position Purpose:
The CNC Programmer will prepare and operate a High-Pressure Water Jet as well as a CNC Router to process/produce high quality products. The Programmer will create the programs required to manufacture our machined parts. They are "mission critical" to ensuring we machine quality parts, optimize cutting to minimize scrap drop, and ensure our machines operate efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for operation, loading and unloading material and parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring, and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
• Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
• Ensure productions rates are met or exceeded.
• Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of productions. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management.
• Communicates with management, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
• Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and performing basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
• Suggest and implement improvements.
• Communicates all production related items to the Director or supervisors.
• Completes all required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
• Conform to the company's culture of quality, service and continuous improvement, while taking personal responsibility for your own actions and treating fellow employees, customers and vendors respectfully and ethically.
• Analyzes job orders, engineering drawings, technical specifications and/or other design data.
• Prepares geometric layouts from graphic displays.
• Recommends improvements or optimization that improves quality and/or efficiency of operations.
• Accurately determines or calculates necessary dimensions, makes cutting tool selections, and identifies appropriate machine speeds and feed rates.
• Determines and creates required reference points for machine cutting paths and the sequence of machine operations.
• Interacts with other personnel to identify and resolve programming issues.
• Complies with applicable business processes and work procedures.
• Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety.
• Utilizes drawings or CAD models to support program development.
• Coordinate quick and efficient resolution of CAD/programming issues and delegate corrective action required.
• Maintain and ensure CAD/CNC files are up to date and contain only the latest revision levels. Ensure that any old revision files that must be maintained are kept in an archive file.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
• Vocational training in drafting, design, CNC machining programming, or other similar engineering technical training is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of CNC machine programming experience is required; requires a broad knowledge of machining techniques and CNC machine tool operating procedures.
• Demonstrated experience in accurately interpreting engineering drawings and PCMs.
• CAD/CAM/CMM skills and other computer related experience.
• CAD/CAM Software such as SolidWorks, Fusion360, and MasterCAM.
• Experience with fixture design and tool libraries.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Waterjet, forklift, CNC, programming experience a plus
• Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
• Experience working with architectural blueprints, specifications, and geometric tolerance interpretation.
• Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales.
• Experience in architectural millwork industry with hands-on involvement in operational activities.
• Must be able to meet quality and deadline expectations.
• Proficiency with computers and programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet.
Certifications:
• Valid Driver's License and Insurance.
