Job Description
Materials Test Engineer
Warren, RI (On-site)
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform mechanical testing to recognized standards (ASTM & ISO), customer specifications, and novel project-based requirements
• Operate and maintain various hydraulic test frames (MTS), DSC, DMA, Rheometer, FTIR, ovens, microscopes, and other lab equipment
• Analyze data, review results, and compile test reports
• Support composite panel fabrication by vacuum infusion, RTM, hand-layup, and other manufacturing methods
• Measure, compare, and evaluate specimen dimensions for conformance with standards or methods
• Continuous improvement mindset: work with lab personnel to improve capabilities and streamline test lab procedures
• Generate and update work instructions to match current practices
• Follow and maintain TPI Physical Sciences Laboratory's ISO 17025 Quality Management System
• Assisting in inventory management
• Maintaining a safe working environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in related engineering or science field
• Working knowledge of composite manufacturing methods and material mechanics of composites
• Excellent data analysis and presentation skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, Composite Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
• Mechanical testing experience
• Experience applying strain gages
