As a Database Administrator at Capital One, you'll be responsible for administration of procedures and practices regarding data access and upkeep across our Sybase Database platform. This includes administration of a multi-region MSA replication topology for Sybase ASE as well as administering a standalone Sybase IQ Production instance.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for administration of transactional and analytical database objects in an OLTP environment.
2. On-call responsibilities in a weekly rotation.
3. Duties include performance tuning, monitoring, software installs and upgrades, scripting, automation, incident response, and documentation.
4. Familiarity with AWS services and scripting.
5. Familiarity with complex database systems.
6. Familiarity with Enterprise Incident management.
7. Hands-on experience using AWS.
8. Hands-on experience with Linux and AIX.
9. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

Basic Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma, GED, equivalent certification, or military experience.
2. At least 5 years of experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Sybase ASE .
3. At least 5 years of experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Sybase Replication Server .
4. At least 5 years of experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Sybase IQ .
5. At least 3 years of experience with database backup and recovery, including implementing disaster recovery standards.
6. At least 3 years of experience with database design, optimization, and tuning.
7. At least 1 year of experience in AWS cloud computing platform.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
2. 3+ years of financial services experience.
3. AWS experience.
4. HADR automatic failover experience.
5. Warm Standby Replication experience.
