As part of a small, passionate and empowered team, a manager of software engineering in Enterprise Technology is equally obsessed with delivering the best possible customer experiences and leading and building a strong team. This role is accountable for solution delivery across tailored, hybrid, and consumer off-the-shelf solutions with a focus on the rapid and safe development of our space vehicles.

We are customer-focused in everything we do. Let us know how you work backward from the customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead software engineering, data, and architecture practices and standards within a multi-functional team.
  • Hire and develop software engineers. Provide development goals, promotion guidance, and motivation to your direct reports.

  • Work directly with a product manager and business partners to set quarterly objectives and key results for software products.
  • Work alongside design, manufacturing, and flight operations teams to understand opportunities for improvement and points of unnecessary complexity.
  • Challenge the status quo; continuously improve the organization's tools and standards for development and operation.
  • Evaluate and implement commercial off-the-shelf systems, including planning their administration, configuration, customization, and upgrades.

This team thinks long-term, advocates for engineering excellence, and delivers. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of technical experience building production software in a Software Engineering, DevOps, or Architecture role.
  • 3+ years experience managing software developers.
  • Excellent understanding of the software engineering lifecycle including coding standards, configuration management, deployment, testing, and operations.
  • Ability to learn and understand the details of any technical component as well as drive the overall systems architecture.
  • A track record of delivering technical roadmaps by defining a clear vision of desired business outcomes.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience deploying infrastructure on-premises and to Amazon Web Services using systems like git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing and delivering solutions in design and manufacturing environment, including digital thread and its impact on manufacturing.
  • We value 'simple' as a design goal and recognize that simple and easy are very much not the same thing.
  • We care deeply about craftsmanship in our solutions no matter their lineage.

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
