Your Job :
The Lead Integrations and Middleware Engineer oversees the design, development, implementation, support, and maintenance of middlware solutions that facilitate seamless communication and integration between different systems, application, and data sources within the enterprise. You will work with architects, analyst and other engineers to ensure that the integration design meets the business requirements and is aligned with enterprise integrations guidelines.

Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $142,253-227,605 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Your Job :
The Lead Integrations and Middleware Engineer oversees the design, development, implementation, support, and maintenance of middlware solutions that facilitate seamless communication and integration between different systems, application, and data sources within the enterprise. You will work with architects, analyst and other engineers to ensure that the integration design meets the business requirements and is aligned with enterprise integrations guidelines.
Your Responsibilities:
System Architecture & Design
- Lead the design and architecture of middleware solutions, including messaging systems, enterprise service buses (ESBs), API gateways, and integration platform features, to meet business requirements and technical specifications, collaborating with enterprise and other functional area architects to ensure alignment with overall system architecture and business requirements
- In partnership with the Domain Architect, ensure systems architecture and design aligns with architecture standards and present new and modified solutions to Architecture Review Board for review and approval
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of integration engineers. Mentor other engineers, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards
- Design, develop, and implement integration solutions to connect systems, applications, and data sources leveraging the middleware and current integrations technology stack, developing custom adapters, connectors, and middleware components using appropriate programming languages and technologies
- Administer middleware platforms and tools, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of integration solutions including platform and database components
- Manage end-to-end integration projects, from requirements gathering and solution design to development, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support, coordinating tasks, allocating resources, and monitoring project progress to ensure timely delivery within budget and scope
- Implement quality assurance practices and testing strategies to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of integration solutions, conducting unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing to validate functionality and identify defects
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational policies related to data privacy, security, and governance within middleware / integrations solutions.
- Document technical designs, implementation details, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and collaboration among team members, providing training and support to ensure smooth handover of integration solutions
- Respond to incidents, alerts, and service requests related to integration systems, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions
- Implement preventive measures to proactively address recurring issues
- Participate in the evaluation & selection of technology solutions. Maintain relationships with middleware vendors, including software vendors, service providers, and consultants
- Leverage external expertise and resources as needed to support integration initiatives
- Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in integration engineering.
- Continuously improve processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of integration solutions
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or other technology-related discipline
- 7+ years' experience with integration solutions and supporting infrastructure, databases, including integration design and support
- 7+ years of experience with integration development, workflow design, monitoring and alerting configuration, event management, and solution support
- 3+ years' experience with API design and API management / API gateways
- Demonstrated experience with various other enterprise data integration technologies, including ESB platforms/middleware, EDI, and message standards, etc.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise middleware solutions is required such as Infor OS/ION, TIBCO, etc.; experience with Infor OS/ ION is specifically preferred
- Experience with cloud services and infrastructure, preferably AWS and Azure. Knowledge of AWS Lambda preferred
- Understand industry best practices for integration patterns, SOAP and REST services, and XML and JSON message formats
- Proven knowledge of system, integrations, and data architecture standards and frameworks
- Proven knowledge of various programming languages such as Java, Node.js, Python, etc. and database technologies such as RDBMSs - SQL Server, DB2, etc., NoSQL databases
- Experience with technical mentoring in the areas of solution design, code reviews, and integration modeling
- High level of data literacy, including development of canonical models, resource definition, and schema design
- Excellent technical documentation skills
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Experience in wholesale and/or retail industry preferred, but not required

- Integration Platforms Proficiency: Expertise in integration platforms such as Infor OS/ION, MuleSoft, TIBCO, etc. with the ability to design, develop, and maintain complex integration solutions to connect disparate systems, applications, and data sources
- API Management Skills: Knowledge of API management concepts and platforms such as AWS API Gateway, with experience in designing and implementing APIs, managing API lifecycle, and enforcing security and governance policies
- Microservices Architecture: Familiarity with microservices architecture principles and patterns, including service discovery, API gateways, and event-driven communication
- System Integration and Customization: Excels in integrating and customizing enterprise applications to meet specific business requirements, leveraging advanced configuration, scripting, and development skills with ability to design and implement complex integrations between different systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability across the enterprise ecosystem
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage project timelines and budgets, and mitigate risks effectively, experience with Agile or other project management methodologies is a plus
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify problems - considering the interconnectedness of system components and their broader impact, evaluate options, and make informed decisions with experience resolving complex issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Quality Assurance and Testing: Knowledge of quality assurance practices and testing techniques for middleware integration solutions, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing, with experience in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of integration solutions through thorough testing and validation
- Database Administration & Programming Skills: Knowledge of RDBMS, noSQL databases
- Learning agility: able to ramp up quickly on new technologies, leveraging existing knowledge and learning patterns
- Able to work effectively in a team environment and lead cross-functional team discussions and assessments
- Able to articulate ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
