Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Responsibilities

  • As a member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and building components for Oracle's storage systems.
  • You are expected to own/drive platform architecture, design, and implementations to deliver high-quality features and services.
  • You are expected to work across teams in a highly collaborative environment.
  • You will be responsible for providing technical leadership, setting high standards through design/code reviews, and mentoring others on the team.
  • Oracle's Storage is a highly scalable and performant public-facing service for storing an unlimited amount of data.
  • Your intelligence and expertise will result in the sense of accomplishment as you create new features as well as oversee their use by customers in a production environment.
  • This is your chance to be part of an exciting new technology that is hot in the market, has many opportunities to work on new features, and is already in demand by customers.
  • Develop and define media technology roadmap.
  • Design and perform initial feasibility and PoC of various storage media optimization to reduce the cost of storage and maximize usable capacity.
  • Design and develop performance modeling at system and application level to ensure maximum efficiency of our hardware.
  • Work with other Architects, Product Managers, Executives, and others to develop product definitions and roadmaps.
  • Act as a leader in our organization; ensure engineering teams are aligned with strategic vision; drive consensus and understanding on technical issues.
  • Drive customer-focused solutions to completion on time.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help grow talent within our team.
  • Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to leadership, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain both integration and production systems as part of an operations-focused culture.
  • Raise the bar for engineering quality and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in SSD and HDD media technologies, development, and trends.
  • Experience with QLC and SMR Zones Storage Media at firmware and hardware level.
  • Experience in driving storage server hardware and improvement of storage density, performance, price, and latency.
  • Experience in wear leveling, FTL (Flash translation layer), and GC for SSD.
  • Deep understanding of storage system reliability, system performance characterization, and tuning of storage systems.
  • Track records of working with storage vendors and knowledge of standards and standards committees.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (Oracle/AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) and performance testing tools.
  • Impeccable written English and presentation skills.
  • Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable with complex, swiftly evolving software development environments.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to drive, follow, evangelize, and improve cross-team processes.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.
  • Experience (and commitment to) capturing and maintaining institutional knowledge.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
  • Significant work experience in startups or fast-paced enterprise technology development environments, or a bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science-related field.

Range and benefit information:

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 - $223,500 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
