Your Role
As a Senior SHE Engineer, you will lead and improve safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure safe working conditions and compliance with regulations. You will be responsible for continued certification to ISO standards, and achievement of Atlas Copco's Sustainability Goals. You will report to the Quality Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- You will lead the SHE Team to guide Atlas Copco's Safety, Health, and Environmental Goals.
- Responsible for certification of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Responsible for certification of ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System.
- Responsible for compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- You will lead sustainability improvement projects targeted at reducing waste, energy usage, water use, and CO2 emissions following Atlas Copco's Science Based Targets (SBT).
- You will write and approve policies, procedures, and work instructions related to SHE programs.
- Lead management committee meetings for tracking safety and sustainability project progress.
- You will lead improvement activities of the plant's safety, health, and environmental performance.
- Work to improve insight survey safety index score.
- You will develop safety awareness communication processes, including appropriate metrics.
- Coordinate globally with other Atlas Copco entities to ensure EH&S programs comply with all Atlas Copco requirements.
- You will lead investigations of New Hudson site accidents, injuries, or near misses to determine root causes and to implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Keep up to date about current policies, regulations, and industrial processes associated with operations.
- Work with regulatory authorities (local, state, or federal).
- You will recommend / implement safety features to reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and other hazards, including documentation, training, and enforcement of PPE requirements.
- Ensure quarterly sustainability reports are accurate and completed on time.
- You will present sustainability results and actions to the Senior Management Team and Atlas Copco IAS Board.
- You will ensure environmental and employee safety programs and training are up to date, maintained, and compliant with Federal/State laws.
- Oversee wastewater treatment compliance testing, reporting, and other permit requirements.
- You will function as the site security officer managing chemical vulnerability information.
- Other related duties as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager, and Management Team.
To succeed, you will need
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in the U.S.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001/45001 requirements.
- Knowledge of tracking and reporting sustainability measures, i.e., CO2 emissions, energy use, etc.
- Training/Certifications in wastewater, DOT Hazardous Materials, RCRA, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Project management and time skills.
- Communicate with the Senior Management Team, including the Atlas Copco IAS Board.
- Guide Senior Management Team toward achieving goals.
- Will work with all organization levels and departments.
- PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs.
EDUCATION OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Professional certifications preferred (CSP, CHMM, ASP).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (AS APPLICABLE):
- Ability to move about the manufacturing facility in a safe manner.
- Occasional local, national, and international travel may be required.
