YOUR TEAM
Our Quality Engineer is nestled within our Operations department. It is a small, but mighty team that is responsible for sourcing high-quality parts from reputable vendors that are then packaged together to make up Seakeeper units. With cross-department collaboration and interaction with external partners, you'll gain knowledge across the various areas of the Operations department, so you'll be able to own your role and bring new ideas to the table to improve processes and results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
We make an extraordinary product that requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to unmatched quality standards. As our Quality Engineer, you will work onsite at our 3PL partner to develop and administer the required quality standards for incoming supplier material, production quality and to give the completed components one last review before they ship out to our (soon-to-be) happy owners and customers! You'll ensure all products meet the defined requirements by:
- Evaluating data to establish capability and determine inspection requirements
- Regularly evaluating and inspecting products and collecting key data points using hand tools (calipers, micrometers, pins) and a Hexagon laser scanner with Inspire Software
- Dispositioning incoming products based on results
- Maintaining calibration and record of inspection equipment
- Issuing and managing quality alerts for the production team
- Educating the production team on quality inspection requirements
- Assisting the production team as needed to get products ready for delivery
- Creating and Maintaining product kitting & assembly work instructions
- Working with suppliers on quality systems and corrective actions
- Periodically dock auditing Seakeeper units prior to shipping
- Reviewing, investigating, and processing non-conforming parts from production and field returns
- Analyzing problems, initiating corrective actions, and reporting results effectively
MUST-HAVES
- 5+ years of related work experience in a quality-related role within the manufacturing industry
- Engineering degree with a focus in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Superior ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Minitab
- Experience working in a quality inspection role
- Ability to perform manual measurements
- Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- Experience working with AIAG, IATF quality standards and principles
- Experience operating a manual or automated CMM software
- Experience in laser scanning
- Experience building out systems and procedures
- Experience with NetSuite software
- This role is located onsite at our 3PL in Charlotte, NC four days a week
- Initially, you will be expected to travel to our 3PL in Detroit, MI on a weekly basis for the first four to six weeks for initial training, with additional periodic travel to Detroit up to 25%
- You'll report to the Director of Operations
- You will be a Seakeeper employee in the third-party facility and will be the eyes and ears of the operations being completed by our contractor
- Up to 25% travel to suppliers or other Seakeeper partners when necessary
