Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities:
Kress is looking for a full-time CNC Programmer. This position will be responsible for the following:
Analyzing technical drawings, sketches, and design data of a variety of parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, setup requirements, configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates to generate quality parts in accordance with quality standards to maximize efficiencies.
Determining reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
Preparing geometric layouts to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
applying advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5M:1994.
Writing setup sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine based on tool selection criteria.
Working with machinist to improve existing CNC programs for efficiency and design engineers to develop new products, ensuring that manufacturability is integral to the products' design.
Writing program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path using Master Cam software.
Revising program and documentation to eliminate programming instruction errors or omissions and to accommodate engineering changes.
Observing operation of machine on first article run to prove programmed instructions.
Advising manufacturing engineering on various issues in regard to design, creating prints, and proper machining processes and operations.
Reviewing new and existing designs and drawings for manufacturing feasibility.
Assisting with the design and development of special equipment, tooling, and/or evaluate or assist in the evaluation of special or new manufacturing equipment or processes.
Troubleshooting defects and product failures, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
Designing and create templates for brake press, hand torch and various welding operations.
Experience and Qualification:
Education: AS Degree in Machining Technology or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience: 3-5 years manufacturing / programming CNC lathes, mills and multi-axis machines. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software using solid modeling is essential. (Mastercam preferred)
