Java backend developer

Looking for a Java backend developer, local in CA (preferably EX – COMCAST).

Required Skills:

1. JAVA microservices
2. Kafka
3. Data side experience
4. Cassandra (mandatory)

Core Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop new software and web applications.
2. Support applications under development and customize current applications.
3. Develop software update process for existing applications.
4. Assist in the roll-out of software releases and participate in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) of platform applications.
5. Design and develop low latency, high throughput server applications that handle large volumes of data stream processing using big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka, AWS services like Kinesis, SNS, SQS, Opensearch).
6. Develop applications using Java or Scala, Python scripting, microservices with Spring framework (e.g., Spring Boot), NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Mongo).
7. Assist in developing, monitoring, and evaluating performance metrics.
8. Write and edit documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations.
9. Keep current with technological developments within the industry.
10. Monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products.
11. Review literature, patents, and current practices relevant to assigned projects.
12. Provide technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance regarding practices, procedures, and techniques.
13. Serve as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.
14. Work with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specifications and technical requirements.
15. Display expertise in process design and redesign skills.
16. Present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.

Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedules, and overtime as necessary.
