Welcome to Our Place. We believe that sharing a home-cooked meal is the very best way to connect. That’s why we create products that simplify home-cooking; it’s why we celebrate traditions with families given, chosen, and found; and it’s why we share those stories with you, directly from the people and places where they originate.
We’re looking for an amazing Project Engineer to join our team! As the Project Engineer, you will work closely with our R&D, Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality and supplier teams to manage the lifecycle of our products; helping guide our products and projects from ideation and concept stages through mass production, steady state and all the way to end of life. This includes the ability to deliver detailed analytical concepts and then back up those concepts with written justification as well as reviewing and managing the traffic of pre-production and production files across factories, internal and external teams.
The ideal candidate for this position will have 5 years of experience in Engineering, preferable in Home Appliances or the Kitchenware spaces. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the production process across electronics, metals, glass, wood, plastics and other materials. This candidate will also have an in-depth understanding of the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) processes, manufacturing, production and quality processes, along with general understanding of supply chains and continuous improvement methodologies. This individual will also be very creative and able to adapt to dynamic and rapidly changing environments. Ultimately, this role will help the company develop and help drive critical processes from concept to completion - Design Validation, Engineering Validation, Process Validation, Pre-Production, Mass Production, Continuous Improvement, and End of Life.
We have a hybrid working culture and are looking for this person to be on site 2-3 times a week at our brand new Our Place headquarters in West Los Angeles.
What you’d do at Our Place
- Work with our design and Product Development teams to own and drive the DFM process.
- Perform initial and ongoing design reviews (reviewing and confirming design and factory files align while raising any discrepancies to appropriate factory and design partners).
- Act as the liaison with design and factories to ensure all design intent is executable with factories in production while creatively solving problems and pushing back on design intent conflicts.
- Work closely with the design, Product Development and Quality teams to review, sign off on and track PPS (pre-production samples) and TOP (top-of-production) samples.
- Help develop and review CAD project drawings for all products while setting up engineering specifications with optimal product tolerance based on form, fit and function.
- Work with R&D, Sourcing, Compliance, Product Development, Quality and Supply Chain teams to create and drive product testing protocols as well as reliability and life tests based on safety requirements, usage requirements and marketing needs (this includes working with our quality and other cross-functional teams on claims testing and validation).
- Own file maintenance while testing and validating physical products against original design intent and documents to ensure design files are equivalent to final factory production files.
- Own and drive the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process from Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) through becoming Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Support with managing the traffic of design files for patent applications.
- Lead and drive critical Engineering continuous improvement and end of life projects with cross-functional teams.
