DevOps Engineer II

BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineer II for a Redmond WA onsite opportunity.

Position Title: DevOps Engineer II

Location: Redmond WA (Onsite)

Anticipated Start Date: Aug 8th, 2024

Expected Duration: 12 months

Job Type: Contract - (FULL TIME (40 Hours a week))

Pay Range: $43.18-$71.25

Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Job Description

The main function of a DevOps Engineer is to build functional systems that improve software experience. A typical DevOps engineer is responsible for deploying product updates, identifying and troubleshooting production issues as well as implementing integrations.

Responsibilities

1. Build and maintain continuous integration pipelines.
2. Improve provisioning and deployment procedures and documentation for an embedded device/platform.
3. Application and infrastructure planning, testing and development.
4. Increase robustness and resilience of workflows through automation and testing.
5. The candidate must be familiar with and willing to work hands-on with embedded devices.

Qualifications

1. 2+ years of experience with virtualization, provisioning, and configuration management tool SaltStack.
2. 2+ years of experience with build systems (e.g. Jenkins).
3. 2+ years of experience with scripting in shell environments with Bash.
4. 2+ years of experience demonstrating administrator level knowledge of Linux/Unix.
5. 1+ years of experience demonstrating familiarity with Python and a willingness to learn more.

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Must work onsite from day 1 in Redmond, WA and comply with site Covid policy.

Top 3 must-have HARD skills

1. 2+ years of experience with provisioning and configuration management tools and technologies such as SaltStack.
2. 2+ years of experience with dev infra build systems (e.g. Jenkins).
3. 2+ years of experience with scripting in shell environments such as Bash.
4. 2+ years of experience demonstrating administrator level knowledge of Linux.
5. 1+ year experience with source control such as Git or Mercurial.

Good to have skills

1. Experience coding in Python.
2. Experience with automation such as Github Actions.
3. Experience with machine virtualization.
4. Understanding the concepts of a tool similar to SaltStack (doesn't have to be Salt, but Salt-adjacent).
5. Troubleshooting / debugging in a variety of situations.
6. Customer service / strong interpersonal skills - helping to unblock others.
