We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a background in design and analysis of Avionics mechanical enclosures for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) on satellite systems. The ideal candidate has experience performing line replaceable unit (LRU) specific design and analyses such as random vibration analysis and hand calculation sizing based on quasi-static accelerations.
Key job responsibilities
Mechanical design and layout trades contributing to overall system architecture configuration selection, requiring knowledge and experience in understanding, collaborating and trading complex inputs from multiple other disciplines – Electrical, RF, Thermal, Dynamics, Mechanisms, Materials, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test.
Generate detailed designs with 3D CAD assemblies/components and 2D drawings as deliverables.
Conduct static, dynamic, and modal structural analysis as needed to support design work.
Deliver efficient designs capable of high volume production throughput (DFM, DFA).
Documentation and presentation of materials for technical design reviews.
Design and support test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for space hardware.

A day in the life
This is a hands-on role for a highly collaborative individual that combines technical and analytical capabilities to convert analytic trade studies to a qualified physical design, while optimizing for high volume production and meeting cross-discipline requirements. The candidate will design, analyze, and test secondary structures while ensuring all requirements are met.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
Experience with prototyping and implementation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
Experience with NX and Teamcenter

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
