POSITION SUMMARY

This role will support the APQP process regarding new programs, outsourced programs, external and internal engineering changes. The QE also supports production in all areas of the production process from start to finish, including overseeing products received and shipped. This associate will have beginning to end responsibility for a specific product group(s) and will become the specialist for that product area, with an in-depth understanding of the full process.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for planning and coordination of quality programs and activities to ensure quality and reliability.

Provide quality support to Engineering, Tool Build, and Manufacturing, ensuring compliance with all quality requirements.

Maintain and control the Nonconforming Hold Area for timely and valid disposition of nonconforming or suspect material.

Analyze and revise control plans and inspection sheets considering tool design/build to determine characteristics that can change eliminating time wasted checking characteristics that cannot change.

Provide root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.

Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.

Assists in the resolution of manufacturing quality issues and implementing the Quality System to achieve IATF 16949 and other required certifications.

Responsible for understanding the documentation and tasks of the APQP process and assisting as needed.

Develop, execute, and/or monitor quality plans and quality engineering tasks, as well as manufacturing process validations and controls to ensure compliance with established requirements and regulatory expectations.

Develop training and provide coaching to manufacturing associates to build quality awareness.

Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data.

Provide process control measurement required by customer and manufacturing processes.

Support the Quality Auditors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system and part specific customer requirements.

Evaluate returned product and provide appropriate corrective action.

Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.

Continuously work towards improving QA receiving inspection process and procedures.

Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions.

Analyze and work to resolve customer complaints.

Responsible for the accomplishment of established quality goals.

Customer and Supplier proactive/reactive visits (includes some travel).

Aide in the development of Standardized Work Instruction for consistent manufacturing methods.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, with 3 or more years related experience strongly preferred, or equivalent experience with technical training in inspection policies, practices, and objectives in a manufacturing environment.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Automotive production experience is required.
  • Disciplined Problem Solving, PPAP, FMEA, and strong IATF 16949 experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate Control Plans, FMEAs, Process Flow diagrams, SPC and conduct PPAPs in required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with the ability to learn and use our EPR system (Plex) is required.
  • Hands-on experience auditing and maintaining a robust quality system is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T and engineering drawings is required.
  • Experience in PFMEA, process control plans, and technical process documentation (Gage R&Rs, Capability Studies, MSA, PPAP, SPC, Standardized Work Instructions) is required.
  • Training with working knowledge of root cause analysis with CI and CA processes is required.
  • Customer focused and ability to prioritize and multitask is required.
  • Experience working directly with customers is required.
  • Experience collaborating with associates in multiple departments within the organization is required.
  • ASQ certification is preferred.
  • Metal stamping facility experience is preferred.
  • Launch experience is preferred.
