Job Summary

The Director of Engineering is responsible for the general administration of the Engineering Dept., including proper maintenance and repair of all buildings, fixtures, fittings, and equipment, as well as technical improvements, preventive maintenance, and utilities consumption control.

As a Director of Engineering, we rely on you to:

  1. Plan, design, and implement minor projects to improve plant efficiency or reduce other operating and maintenance costs.
  2. Plan and implement a preventive maintenance system to try and achieve zero defects for all equipment in the hotel.
  3. Provide training to all department staff to ensure efficient operation, proper maintenance, and repair to equipment as well as good morale.
  4. Attend daily morning briefing.
  5. Conduct monthly internal meetings to keep staff informed and to seek feedback.
  6. Conduct daily briefing and distribute work assignments.
  7. Prepare and attend P&L and Dept. Heads meetings.
  8. Analyze performance and ways to improve it.
  9. Communicate with VIP guests and inquire about their stay, comfort preferences, and problems.
  10. Ensure repairs and maintenance (work orders) are taken care of.
  11. Motivate staff by providing positive feedback and reinforcement.
  12. Give feedback to General Manager and DHR on staffing levels of the department to assist in determining staffing level for the department.
  13. Monitor performance of engineering staff and communicate this to each staff either personally or through Maintenance Officers on a regular basis through counseling.
  14. Document performance of Engineering staff through biannual performance reviews in conjunction with HR.
  15. Implement the identified Best Practices in the work area.
  16. Participate actively in the monitoring and planning for the continual improvement of the Resorts EMS.
  17. Have overall responsibility for implementing the Resorts environmental commitment on Prevention of Pollution.

  • 1 year as Chief Engineer in an international class hotel.
