Job Overview for the Scenic Designer/CAD Designer
The Scenic Designer will work hand-in-hand with the creative, account, production, and lighting teams to conceive how the various staging elements will come together in the event space. They will develop CAD drawings of the event space and develop or manage visual 3D renders to allow the event to be visualized.
- The Scenic/CAD Designer may be required to travel and support on-site creative needs at events in fast-paced, high-stress event situations.
- The Scenic Designer will also develop stage and lighting concepts for new business proposals for potential clients.
- The Scenic Designer will work with the creative, account, and production teams for pricing/budgeting and estimating
- Knowledgeable of owned INSPIRE AV gear
- Create CAD event drawings
- Manage or develop 3D renders of the event space
- Stay up-to-date on new stage trends and ideas
- Actively communicate with creative and production teams
- Work closely with the production team to meet both budget and scheduling go
- Manage/develop renders of staging elements
- Actively analyze concepts against client requests to ensure they meet strategic goals, objectives, and timing
- Ability to work with the Creative Services Director and the creative team on the scope, direction, and expectations of creative projects
- Ability to take constructive criticism
- Ability to meet and understand client/show's needs to develop creative solutions for complex client events and articulate back creative concepts to the client
- Able to work collaboratively with the Creative Services Director and Creative Services Manager on deadlines and designer assignments
- Work collaboratively with Project Management teams to successfully produce creative within time constraints and on budget
- Ability to travel and work on-site for event support as needed.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in CAD Design, Drafting, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred but not required)
- 2+ years of experience as a Scenic Designer/CAD Designer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in CAD software (VectorWorks)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and creativity.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
