Job description
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for understanding, supporting, and maintaining the datacenter and cloud environment ecosystem of SaaS, hosting, and service providers. Additionally, this role will support internal processes as part of the overall infrastructure delivery and support efforts to meet evolving business needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise related to enterprise server, datacenter, and cloud environments focusing on compute and storage.
- Participate in defined IT change approval board (CAB) and change management processes.
- Participation in server, datacenter, and cloud related incident management and post-incident review process.
- Contribute to CMDB maintenance, focused on compute and storage environment documentation.
- Analyze compute and storage reports, capacity, and metrics across compute and storage ecosystems and escalate or inquire as appropriate.
- Coordinate with various 3rd party / external service providers on the compute and storage platforms they support.
- Participate in solution design/delivery process in design and delivery of cloud and on-prem solutions to support business applications.
- Maintain the ITSM catalog of supported compute and storage capabilities.
- Administer and support compute and storage platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience supporting compute and storage platforms in a datacenter environment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a comparable role with at least 3 years of recent experience managing Azure Cloud Services.
- Experience working with managed service providers, cloud services, hosted solutions, and Windows server environments.
- Experience creating and reviewing technical documentation.
- Proficiency in ITIL framework and methodologies including CMDB.
- Solid understanding of applications, data, integrations, and infrastructure architecture.
- Solid analytical skills, experience solving practical issues and engaging cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of distributed systems in an enterprise environment.
- Infrastructure support background: virtualization, DNS, DHCP, data backup, disaster recovery, high availability.
- Ability to successfully communicate with business partners, management, vendors, and technical teams.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or comparable systems.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Must have 5 years of experience.
- Must have at least 1 year with Azure, ideally 3+.
- Proficiency in ITIL framework and methodologies including CMDB.
- Azure DevOps.
